This prompt is hosted weekly by Taking on a World of Words. To participate you simply answer these three questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What have you recently finished reading?
  3. What are you going to read next?

What Are You Currently Reading?

I’m currently reading Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I’m halfway through and loving it! This is another spectacular read!

I also just started reading Will of a Tiger by Iris Yang (the sequel to Wings of a Flying Tiger) on my computer.

What Have You Recently Finished?

I have been surprised at the books I have ended up enjoying this year, as they have strayed from my usual historical fiction or classic genre into the world of contemporary fiction.

The most recent read for me is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. I understand this book got a considerable amount of controversy upon it’s publication, so I was wary of reading it at first. I did read reviews of this book and understand it contains many errors. However, in viewing it as fiction, I did overall enjoy it.

The other book I finally finished recently was Resistance Women by Jennifer Chiaverini. I started this book back in April while I was still in hospital, and got a fair part of it read during that time. However, after my discharge my interest in it waned. All that said, it is a good book, and I would recommend it those who love historical fiction, especially one written in historical detail. The majority of the main characters are also real life historical figures.

What Are You Going to Read Next?

Bear Town by Fredrick Backman would definitely be on my list of books to read next. I just purchased two non-fiction books on writing which I’m looking forward to starting.

The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish is also available for take-out, social distance pickup at my library so that’s probably another upcoming read.

What are you reading this week?
